Canvas
Draw and export pixel art, right in the browser
This pixel art maker gives you a blank grid and the few tools that actually matter for sprite work: a one-cell brush, an eraser, a color picker, and unlimited undo/redo per stroke. When you are done, export a PNG at 1×–8× with nearest-neighbor scaling so edges stay perfectly sharp — ready for games, avatars or favicons.
How to use
- Pick a grid size (or type a custom size from 4 to 128).
- Choose a color and draw with the brush; use the eraser for single cells, or the picker to grab a color already on the canvas.
- Fix mistakes with Undo / Redo (Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z).
- Choose an export scale and click Download PNG.
Inputs, outputs and limits
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Canvas presets | 8×8 … 64×64, custom 4–128 cells (square, single layer) |
| Export | PNG, 1× / 2× / 4× / 8× nearest-neighbor (max 1024 × 1024 px) |
| Undo history | Last 100 strokes |
| Browsers | Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari (desktop & mobile) |
There is one layer and no cloud save: the drawing exists only in this browser tab. Closing the tab or resizing the grid starts over (both ask before discarding).
Good to know
- Transparency is real: empty cells export as transparent pixels.
- Fast strokes are safe — the brush interpolates between pointer events, so no cells are skipped, on mouse or touch.
- The Demo button stamps a 16×16 example sprite so you can try the tools immediately.
FAQ
What does this pixel art maker do?
It gives you a blank grid canvas from 8×8 up to 64×64 cells. You draw with a brush, erase mistakes, pick colors from the canvas, undo or redo every stroke, and export the result as a PNG image scaled 1× to 8× with hard pixel edges.
Is my drawing uploaded anywhere?
No. The editor runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript and canvas — there is no server upload, no account, and no analytics on your image data. Closing or reloading the tab discards the drawing, so export your PNG before leaving.
How do I export a crisp PNG without blurry edges?
Pick an export scale of 1×, 2×, 4× or 8×. Scaling uses nearest-neighbor interpolation, so every pixel stays a hard square — never smooth or blurred.
What canvas sizes are available?
Presets are 8×8, 16×16, 24×24, 32×32, 48×48 and 64×64. You can also type a custom size from 4 to 128 cells wide. Larger grids stay fast because the editor is a single-layer grid in memory.
Can I undo a clear or a resize?
Clearing the canvas asks for confirmation first and pushes an undo step, so Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z restores it. Resizing the grid also asks for confirmation but starts a fresh canvas — the previous drawing is not kept.
Does it work on touch screens?
Yes. Drawing uses pointer events, so finger drawing on phones and tablets works the same as a mouse. Lines are interpolated between move events so fast strokes don't leave gaps.
